In February, I lost a cousin after a brief illness. It was heartbreaking and shocking. Even though he grew up in Colorado, he spent many summers at our house. Many memories of him that I will cherish forever. His funeral was in California (where he lived at the time he passed), then his memorial service was held in Colorado Springs. A positive in all this was brining the entire family together, which doesn't happen that often. Almost everyone made it to the service.

| Most of you know my family and how much we enjoy going for walks! We were able to fit one in one morning. |
Uncle Father Tom was diagnosed with stomach cancer in March this year. He has made several trips to Rochester and has been hospitalized there a couple times as well. The only good part about that is that when he's in Rochester, I can make the short drive to see him. His spirits are good and he is always positive.
We made it back for St. Patrick's Day Celebration, which has become a family tradition that I hope we can carry on for the kids.
I also had to make a trip to San Antonio, TX for work. It's the annual conference, but this year I accepted an award, to it made the trip even more rewarding.
Since I seldom go anywhere without the kids, this was one of the longest I've been gone from them at one time. On top of that, two trips within a month of each other was something entirely new to all of us. The kids did well though, I left them notes throughout the house so each time they would find one they would get excited.
Here is a note A.J. gave me before leaving for San Antonio:
