Josie 4K

We had Josie's parent-teacher conferences the other night. Her 4K teacher reassured us that she's ready for Kindergarten. She is enjoying every minute of it and is doing very well. She has come along way since the Fall. Her teacher showed us how she wrote her name at the beginning of school year - the J and the s were backwards, now it's perfect (for a 5 year old) and neat. The other improvement is that she is now speaking up in class and raising her hand to answer questions. She said she's still pretty quiet, but is now showing a little more outgoing-ness (not sure if that's a word?). This "quietness" does not show at home.

She also needed to work on patterns, and she is beyond knowing what she has to know for Kindergarten, according to her teacher. I knew they were really working on it with her because everything she saw that was a pattern, she had to point it out.

Her teacher also said that Josie plays with the boys - her daycare teacher told us the same thing. She just doesn't seem to want to play with the girls. One day she told me that the girls in her class are mean and they don't let her be the mom or the teacher because she's too little. :( She talks about the boys the most so we knew she played with them more. I actually think that's a good thing - less drama with boys, right? Maybe?

Overall, we were very happy with her report. So, on September 1, Josie will be getting on the bus and heading to Kindergarten! (tear).
